1975 MKII Capri Modification

1975 MKII Capri Modification
1975 MKII Capri Modification1975 MKII Capri Modification, turbocharged the 2L using a custom made EFi manifold and VR4 intercooler and a small T25 blowing 11psi on a stock 2L. Made 140hp at the rear wheels.
Drove that round for another year or so before building a more wild engine including forged pistons, 205 block, turbo cam, T25G turbo, fully ported big valve head with a cosworth gasket. Pushed 18psi through that and made 180hp at the wheels. I think it could have done a lot more with a bigger turbo and a better exhaust system. But decided to sell that engine and current build is a 5.0 EFi V8.
5.0i Windsor V8, Hilborn scoop, Holley 900cfm throttlebody injection unit, Air-Gap intake manifold,
Edelbrock RPM alloy heads, Scorpion 1.77 roller rockers Comp Cams double valve springs,
1.90 / 1.60 stainless valves, compcams lifters and hardened pushrods, edelbrock guideplates,
Kelford roller camshaft, lightened rods with ARP bolts, Duratec pistons 9.5-1 comp, ARP head bolts with Felpro Oringed headgaskets. Baffled Bronco sump pan.
Engine control is a LINK LEMV3. Spark is MSD BlasterII with Accell 8.0mm leads. Reduction-gear starter motor, 100amp GM alternator, modified 5.0 Serpertine pulley setup.
Cooling: Custom alloy radiator, twin thermo fans, transcooler kit.
Performance: 246hp at rear wheels 240lbft @ 3900rpm (325nm)
Driveline
Transmission: C4 auto, 2200rpm High Stall, B&M Stage3 Shiftkit, B&M Pro-Rachet Shifter.
Mustang single peice drive shaft with HD universals. Diff is a Narrow 3L Atlas Capri diff,
3.22 ratio. Anti-Tramp rod setup.

Jay Fowler's 1973 Tune Up Modification

Jay Fowler's 1973 Jensen-Healey with Buick 215cid V8

as published in British V8 Newsletter, Volume XV Issue 3, December 2007

Owner: Jay Fowler
City: Amery, Wisconsin
Model: 1973 Jensen-Healey MKII
Engine: 1962 Buick 215 Aluminum V8
Conversion completed by: Jay Fowler, and his father Dan

Engine: 1962 Buick 215cid aluminum V8. Stock cam.
Intake: stock Buick manifold and Rochester "4-Jet" 4-barrel carburetor.
Ignition: stock Delco points-type distributor with MSD ignition.
Cooling: custom aluminum radiator.
Exhaust: custom dual exhaust from the manifolds on back.
Transmission: Borg Warner T5 five speed from a 1985 Camaro V6.
Front Susp.: stock Vauxhall with heavy-duty sway bar.
Rear Susp.: stock Vauxhall with heavy-duty sway bar.
Brakes: stock Vauxhall.
Wheels/Tires: stock Wheels, Cooper tires.
Weight: 1975 pounds dry (with top removed).
Body: added hardtop 2006. Added front scoop to resolve cooling problems.
Performance: 205 Bhp, top speed 130 MPH so far.
Completed: 1985.
Miles Driven: about 12,000 as of October 2007.
Comments: the alternator had to be moved to the lower left and a bracket made that attached to the fuel pump. A reservoir tank was made for the radiator to handle cooling issues. The transmission housing is only 3 inches off the ground and the air cleaner rubs the hood. The motor has no fan mounted to it and a manually-switched electric fan was added to the front of the radiator. During High RPM's the stock electric fuel pump can't keep up with demand. This car still has the original paint, soft top and interior. It was my very first car; I bought it when I was 15 in 1977.

Hyundai Elantra The New Car In 2011

Hyundai Elantra The New Car In 2011
Hyundai Elantra The New Car In 2011Hyundai began selling the Elantra this month, and technically, you can drive away with a base GLS with a manual-transmission for $14,830, though expect to make a few sacrifices at that price point. The bottom-of-the-line Elantra doesn't come with creature comforts like air-conditioning, though power windows and power locks are standard equipment. The vast majority of buyers are more likely to opt for the GLS with what Hyundai calls the "Popular Package." Alongside frosty A/C, the equipment package throws in cruise control and a telescoping steering column for $16,080. For an extra grand, buyers can have that excellent automatic gearbox and 16-inch alloy wheels instead of the 16-inch steelies and wheel covers on the manual-transmission vehicle.

Red Bull X1 Prototype

Red Bull X1 Prototype
Red Bull X1 Prototype - Newey team while working hard to attract as much as possible, which will help drive X1 in the stratosphere to reduce speed. As a result, the front wheels and rear fully enclosed in aerodynamic fairings, and the cockpit canopy closed by elongated. Red Bull and Polyphony Digital has released a Red Bull car engine X1 demanding direct injection, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6, which was reported capable of providing 1483 hp at 15,000 rpm and 527 pound feet of torque at 12,000 rpm. That strength, combined with a sleek aerodynamic work, X1 theoretically can produce some eye-popping performance metrics. Polyphony Digital, says Red Bull X1 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 1.4 seconds, 0-100 mph in 2.8 seconds and 0-200 mph in 6.1 seconds. A top speed was not disclosed, but we were told the Red Bull speed limit sign north X1 is 280 mph.

The network of hydrogen refueling stations continues to grow in Southern California with the opening today of the world's first station supplied by an existing hydrogen pipeline. The new Shell hydrogen station, which is conveniently located in Torrance, California, next to several major freeway corridors and near the Los Angeles International Airport, taps into an existing industrial hydrogen pipeline serving a nearby refinery. The station is also outfitted with multiple fuel dispensers, which allow for the simultaneous refueling of four vehicles in less than five minutes.

In an opening ceremony, Honda FCX Clarity customer Jon Spallino became the first retail fuel-cell electric vehicle customer to fill at the station. With this new station operational, FCX Clarity customers will have access to seven hydrogen refueling stations across Southern California. The FCX Clarity is available on a limited retail basis in Southern California with more than two dozen currently on the road and in the hands of individual customers.

"This new Torrance hydrogen station will give FCX Clarity customers another option for quick, convenient fueling," said Elmer Hardy, senior manager, Alternative Fuel Vehicle Sales & Marketing at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "This is a positive step for our FCX Clarity customers and the industry as we continue to put vehicles on the road and demonstrate the real-world capabilities of Honda fuel-cell electric vehicle technology."

Propelled by an electric motor that runs on electricity generated in an on-board fuel cell, the FCX Clarity delivers quiet, clean power with a small amount of water as its only emissions. The FCX Clarity's fuel efficiency is three times that of a comparably sized modern gasoline-powered automobile, and two times that of a gasoline-powered hybrid vehicle. With a 240-mile EPA-certified driving range and 5 minute refueling time, the zero-emissions FCX Clarity provides customers with a very convenient and anxiety-free driving experience.

The compact and powerful Honda V Flow Fuel Cell Stack allows for unprecedented interior spaciousness and a futuristically stylish, low-slung design previously unattainable in fuel-cell electric vehicles and marks the significant progress that Honda continues to make in advancing the real-world performance and appeal of a fuel-cell electric car.

Honda Fuel-Cell Electric Vehicle Firsts:

The first generation Honda FCX became the first EPA- and CARB-certified fuel-cell electric vehicle in July 2002. The FCX was also the world's first production fuel-cell electric vehicle, introduced to the U.S. and Japan in October 2002. Additional highlights include:

  • Honda FCX was the first fuel-cell electric vehicle to start and operate in sub-freezing temperatures (2003).
  • Honda FCX was the first fuel-cell electric vehicle placed in the hands of an individual retail customer (July 2005).
  • Honda was the first manufacturer of a dedicated fuel-cell electric vehicle on a production line specifically for hydrogen-powered fuel-cell electric vehicles (2008).
  • Honda was the first manufacturer to create a fuel-cell electric vehicle dealer network (2008).
  • FCX Clarity was the first fuel-cell electric vehicle to pace a U.S. Indy Car Race (2011).
